Family information: Daughter of the second Duke of Buckingham, and in 1846 married William Gore-Langton, MP for West Somerset, who supported female suffrage.
Additional Information: Aside from signing the 1866 petition, in 1874 Lady Anna became president of the Bristol and West of England NSWS. She had been president of its Bath committee since 1871 and, the following year, had made a donation to the Manchester NSWS. She was by all accounts a quiet but dignified speaker for the cause. In 1877, she was part of a deputation to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, seeking his support for a women's suffrage bill due to be introduced in Parliament the next day. Promises of support were given but then dashed, amid much commotion in the House of Commons.
Other Suffrage Activities: Lady Anna was a generous financial supporter of Girton Ladies College at Cambridge and of the London Hospital for Women, and was a director of the Women's Printing Society.
