Further Information:

Family information: Later married Joseph Cross in 1877. Sister to Lilias Ashworth (Hallett), who also signed the 1866 petition. Niece of Jacob Bright MP.

Additional Information: Annie contributed to multiple suffrage societies, in addition to her executive committee role for the Central Committee of the NSWS (CCNSWS) when it formed in 1872. These included financial donations to the Edinburgh National Society for Women's Suffrage in 1870; the Bristol and West of England Society in 1871; the Manchester Society in 1871 and 1872; and the Birmingham Society in 1874. She spoke twice on behalf of women's suffrage but preferred not to take part in public campaigning, choosing to support the cause by other means. She later sat on the executive committee of the Manchester Society and became vice president of its later incarnation, the North of England Society, after her marriage to Joseph Cross, when the couple moved to Bolton.

Other Suffrage Activities: In 1871, Anne supported the Ladies National Society and was elected to the school board in Bath, concerned with girls' education. She was also a member of the Married Women's Property Committee in 1873.
