Family information: Married name Bartlett. Mother to three children.
Additional Information: Frances moved to London aged 14 to work as a children's nurse, and was married with three children by the age of 21. Satterley was Frances's name before she got married ? her married surname was 'Bartlett' at the time of the campaign. However, she used her maiden name when she was arrested for militant activity because her husband was a civil servant (working for the government) and she was worried that her actions might jeopardise his job. Frances became active with the WSPU likely in 1909, volunteering to sell newspapers and help with by-election campaigns up and down the country. That year she was sent on a deputation driving into Downing Street with others, which was when she was arrested. She later worked at a nursing home for suffragettes recovering from hunger striking, imprisonment and forcible feeding.
