Additional Information: Edith joined the WSPU in 1906 and was one of its organisers by 1908. She gave up her teaching job to agitate for the cause. She was sentenced to two weeks in prison for a raid on the House of Commons in 1907. In 1908, she chained herself to the railings of 10 Downing Street and was imprisoned for three weeks. She was also sentenced for throwing stones at Downing Street in 1908 and, later, for breach of the peace in Dundee. She worked as an organiser in Newcastle and Leicester.
