Additional Information: Margaret and her mother Alice Ker joined the WSPU in 1909. In 1912, Margaret was arrested for setting fire to a pillar box in Liverpool and was sentenced to three months in prison. Liverpool University, where she was studying, threatened to expel her but she was allowed to continue her studies due to the intervention of the university vice chancellor. However, she did lose a financial grant that had been given to her by Birkenhead Education Authority as a consequence.
Other Suffrage Activities: During the First World War, Margaret worked in the War Office and later belonged to the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom.
