Family information: Daughter of WSPU member Pattie Hall and sister to suffragette Nellie Hall. The Hall family were very close to the Pankhurst family. They were also all involved with the Independent Labour Party (ILP).
Additional Information: Emmeline was probably involved with the WSPU through her family's close connection with the Pankhursts. Emmeline's godmother was WSPU leader Emmeline Pankhurst, after whom she was named. Emmeline was arrested in 1914 with her mother and sister at their London flat, where the police found a stash of pebbles and other items they probably planned to use for window smashing.
