Family information: Sister to suffragette Florence Haigh and Cecilia Haigh (see More on Suffrage Activity).
Additional Information: Evelyn joined the WSPU in 1907, influenced by her sister Florence Haigh. She became a founding member of the Edinburgh WSPU in 1908. In 1910 she took part in the 'Black Friday' demonstration, where another sister, Cecilia, was trampled and seriously injured. Cecilia died just one year later and the family were in no doubt that the injuries she sustained on 'Black Friday' led to her death. Evelyn was arrested in 1913 for a protest outside the House of Commons against the withdrawal of the Franchise Bill and was sentenced to one month in prison.
