Additional Information: Norah joined the WSPU in 1912 and rose quickly through the ranks, becoming its general secretary in 1913. She is only listed as arrested once in the official record book, but was likely arrested on at least three occasions. She joined in with the WSPU and Emmeline and Christabel Pankhurst's patriotic fervour during the First World War, and would later controversially become a leading member of the British Union of Fascists (see Other Activities).
Other Suffrage Activities: Norah was imprisoned in Holloway during the Second World War because she was by then a leading member of the British Union of Fascists and was an advocate of Hitler's politics ? so much so that she sent her 12-year-old son to Germany to join the Hitler Youth. There is an MI5 file on Norah because of her fascist activities during the war.
