Additional Information: Maggie (also known as Lila) joined the WSPU in 1906, but when the Women's Freedom League (WFL) formed as a breakaway group in 1907, she joined them instead. She acted as secretary of the Dundee branch between 1908 and 1912. In 1909, the WFL picketed the House of Commons and Maggie took part. She was later arrested in Downing Street that year, trying to give a petition to the Prime Minister during a WSPU-organised event. She was sentenced to three weeks in prison but was released early. She remained very active in the suffrage movement in Dundee but did not take any further part in militant acts.
Other Suffrage Activities: Maggie became a member of Dundee Town Coucil after the First World War, and was especially interested in improving education.
