Further Information:

Family information: Father was a wine cooper.

Other Suffrage Activities: Lucy must have worked really hard to rise through the ranks of the teacher-pupil system to eventually become a headmistress. When she signed the 1866 suffrage petition, she was teaching at Christ Church School on the Isle of Dogs. Her father died when her younger brother was only 15 years old, so Lucy became the provider for them both. She was in teaching all her life and retired in Brighton on a teacher's pension.
